Pizza with Sausage
1 Individual Pizza
net carbohydrates 8 g
Note: Snoopy (YES THAT SNOOPY) and I like pizza with sausage. If you rather pepperoni or mushrooms or some other topping, use that instead. Or if you like just plain cheese, make it that way.
It takes longer to heat the oven then it does to prepare this recipe.
1 – JOSEPH’S Oat bran & Whole Wheat Pita
2 – tsp. olive oil
2 – Tbsp. Pasta sauce (I like PREGO with garlic and herbs)
½ – tsp. dried oregano
½ – of a cooked sweet or hot sausage (pork, turkey or chicken)
1 – Tbsp. parmesan cheese
2 – thickly cut slices of mozzarella cheese (1/2 cup shredded)
HOW I PREPARE THE RECIPE:
Preheat oven to 450.
Poke pita bread with a toothpick. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Place in pre-heated oven for 4-5 minutes until it just starts to crisp. Remove from the oven and drizzle the olive oil over the pita bread and even it out with a pastry brush. Spoon the pasta sauce evenly over the pita, then sprinkle it with dried oregano (this gives it the taste and aroma of a pizzeria). Sprinkle the parmesan cheese over the sauce, top with mozzarella cheese then with either thin slices of the sausage or crumbled sausage. Raise the heat to 475 and bake until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
